Celebrating Scotland- an evening of culture

A bit different from the traditional Burns night, students from Gimnazija Slovenj Gradec used the celebration as an excuse to look at all things Scottish. Students performed a whole host of Scottish entertainment including a play of Robert Burns life, poetry readings and ceilidh dancing. There was a lot of music - the choir performed Auld Lang Syne (in Slovene) and Amazing Grace, whilst other talented students performed more modern songs from Wet,Wet,Wet, Snow Patrol, Amy MacDonald and KT Tunstall.

In addition to this, students prepared posters depiciting scottish life, from stereotypes to language and sport. Finally it wouldn't be a proper Burns night without some food, and whilst we weren't able to ship over haggis, students had a go at baking shortbread, oat biscuits and scones. All donations received in return for the fine home baking (a total of 70 Euro) went to UNICEF.
