Susan Crane from Ontario, Canada, won a trip home to Scotland courtesy of our sponsors The Famous Grouse. She entered the competition by registering her Burns Supper celebrations online, joining over 3,500 others from across the globe.

Originally from Edinburgh, she moved to Canada with her parents when she was just 7 years old. Now, thanks to the Famous Grouse, she has returned to her homeland to trace her roots with her own children.

In her winning entry, she explained that:

"I had a very strong urge to go back to where I was born to explore my past now that both my children are grown up. I want to regain the piece of me that I left behind when I came to Canada, and to share this with my daughter would be one of the most important adventures we go on together."

Her prize included flights and VIP tickets to the Homecoming Burns Supper in the Bard's birthplace, Alloway. Fellow guests included none other than the First Minister, Alex Salmond, and Shirley Bell, Chief Executive of the Worldwide Burns Federation.

Susan and her family had an unforgettable evening, and she said afterwards:

"To reconnect with my roots has been a very special experience, and coming back to Scotland has been amazing."
