9th Annual Hunter-Gordon Burns Party
For the past nine years we have held a private party co-hosted by the 5th great grand niece of the Bard himself. Not a formal or traditional event by any standard, but rather a rowdy and somewhat lewd affair that we think Robbie would have really enjoyed-- lots of whisky and women!
We always have a very eclectic crowd and often wrap our "Tartan Virgins" up in Great Kilts and parade a "Flaming Haggis"! Once the standard toasts are complete we have a tradition of passing the Quaich to all the guests so everyone can make a short toast.
This year we had 53 guests; with a few expiriencing their first Burns Night! As usual our good friend Rob Lockwood piped in my homemade "Flaming Haggis" and then expertly recited To A Haggis. The Immortal Memory toast by Andrew Teller was well befitting Robbie's 250th birthday; with Laura and Rick D. doing a husband-wife team up toasting the Lasses and Lads. Elaine gave us her usual bawdy rendition of Nine Inches to Please A Lady and Rob later performed my favorite obscure Burns Poem: Cock Up Your Beaver.
