    Burns Night at Green Team

    Burns Night at Green Team
    Friday, January 30th, 2009

    1. Hugh’s Toast to President Obama
(Followed by a first heady sip of golden nectar in the form of the 37 year-old Famous Grouse malt, marking the 250th Anniversary of Rabbie Burns)

    Here’s to our new President…

May he stay true to the wisdom, courage, positive energy and leadership that started a movement, and use it to guide him through the next 8 years.

May he embrace the power of green as a way to strengthen the movement and propel the economy to benefit us all.

May we be the winds of this movement that leaves the world a better place for our children and their children.

    2. Hank’s Modified Version of Burns' Selkirk Grace
    (substituting "whisky" for "meat")

This was followed by the cutting of a special delicious cake proudly and prominently featuring the image of Burns, lovingly baked by Brian, Green Team’s resident expert baker.

    3. Alan’s Toast to the Lassies

    A toast to our ladies,
    for all of their beauty.

For without them we'd be at home with a mag, comma nudie.

They keep us warm all winter,
    and hot all spring,

But damn if they can't fix even one thing.

To the big ones, the small ones,
    the tall and the proud.

    The classy, the lassies,
    the JAPs and the loud.

We'd cut off our fingers for just one more kiss,
We have love for these creatures. Or, maybe we're pissed.

So to hell with that ceiling made of glass,
A cheers to our ol' ladies for making mad cash.

In conclusion we say, to the men who like to eat,
get down on your knees and kiss their damn feet.

    To be with goddesses,
For we must have some luck.
On the other hand it could be,
    we just like to...

    DRINK.

    4. Lauren’s Toast to the Laddies

Why all Men are Scots, and all Scots are Men:

Men are like kilts. They come in lots of beautiful colors and patterns, but some are shorter than others.

Men are like sheep. They’re good to snuggle with, and if you give them enough space to roam they’ll keep you warm year after year.

Men are like whisky. A wee dram usually leads to more.

Men are like munros. They can be dirty, muddy and brambly, but if you forge on you’ll finally see a whole new view of the world.

Men are like golf. They always want to get in the hole.

And, of course, men are like rain. Without them we wouldn’t have sunny days.

    5. Hank’s Dramatic Reading of "Scots Wha Hae"

    6. Milton’s Profession of Love to Lauren through a Passionate Reading of “My Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose”

    7. A Heart-felt Chorus of “Auld Lang Syne”, Sung by Green Team
