Carradale 250th Anniversary Burns Supper 2009

Behind the scenes at The 250th Anniversary Burns Supper 2009

Long before the arrival of a wild and woolly Saturday 17th January 2009, the people responsible for bringing you one of Carradale’s most prestigious events were working hard to ensure it would be a resounding success. So just what goes into the bringing together of a “production” of this kind? Taking a closer look at those involved, we recognize these unique individuals for their extraordinary efforts and very much hope they’ll be available when next we “come-a-calling”…!

We show our sincere appreciation to:

    The Celebrants
Donald Macalister Hall (Master of Ceremonies)
    Alastair Cousin (The Immortal Memory)
    Jim Williamson (The Selkirk Grace)
Stuart Irvine (Address to The Haggis)
Robert Abernethy (Toast to The Lasses)
Shelagh Cameron (Reply to The Lasses)
    Elizabeth McMillan (Votes of Thanks)
Thank you for making us laugh readily, applaud eagerly and gaze in awe at your ability for erudite expression.

Thank you for working through the long days, the late nights and braving sub-zero temperatures to get the job done.

So that’s our amazing team of 34, having given over 250 hours of their time, with some playing more than one role and some having bigger parts to play – yet all were key to the success of Carradale’s 250th Anniversary Burns Supper in 2009 and we’d like to say a very special thank you to each and every one. Also to their wives, husbands, partners and friends, who took the time to hear an instrumental or a lyrical practice, who listened to (and vetted) a speech or address and who simply put up with their own lives being disrupted and their own schedules altered – all to bring to Carradale an evening that we hope those who attended, enjoyed immensely and will never forget. PD
